hearts of people whether that heart is bursting with joy or
troubled with sorrow.

ceremonies for others to cherish the moments that are special in
their lives.
POETRY IN EXTREMIS? All celebrants use poetry from time to time, so here's some food for thought .... Don't you find that there always seems to be just the right poem to suit every occasion - whether it's a traditional as Shakespeare's 'If music be the food of love, play on .....' or as epicurean as the rhyme 'I eat my peas with honey, I've done it all my life. It makes the peas taste funny, but it keeps them on the knife!' And yes, sometimes it's worth a bit of hunting to find the appropriate piece. If you're going through troubled times, chances are that someone else has been through the same thing before you ....... and some poet has gone through the same type of trouble and has written about it. And when you find that poem, you read it and think, 'that just sums it all up'. It's kind of comforting somehow, don't you think? So let's give a big 'Hooray' for Poetry.
Monday 10th November 2008 'Trash or Fashion' - an evening to dress up in anything - whether it's a rubbish bag or your best evening attire. Prizes for the best and worse dressed. Our next meeting, at our Davis Grange Manor venue, is an
evening of discovery and diversity as we explore the cultural mix
of celebrations at the year's end. We will also be having a session on 'Surviving and Thriving as a celebrant' presented by Kathrine Fraser. Expect Xmas mince tarts, club sandwiches and some festive food. This is a chance to share, or find out, how others in our community mark this special time. It should be a relaxed evening, so make this one to get to. Monday 2nd March 2009 Christine Bannon and Winnie Duggan, celebrants and, authors of the book 'Be Fertile with Your Infertility' have accepted an invitation to be our very special guest speakers at our AGM in March next year. We will be starting at 7pm with the AGM, followed by their presentation. This meeting will be at our usual venue at Davis Grange Manor, 400 Dominion Road Mt Eden Week-end 24-26 July 2009 The Auckland Branch is delighted to be hosting the CANZ
